15th Annual Museum District Day
Saturday, September 17, 2011    |     10 am – 5 pm

Houston, Texas (July 13, 2011) – Enjoy a free day in the Houston Museum District on Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 10 am – 5 pm during the 15th annual Museum District Day ( http://www.houstonmuseumdistrict.org/default.asp?id=1 ).  Visitors can hop the free bus shuttles to explore favorite museums, discover new destinations and delight in fascinating exhibitions, hands-on activities, live demonstrations and exciting performances throughout the day.

Sixteen museums will waive their general admission fee to offer the community the valuable opportunity to enjoy the Museum District’s diverse displays of art, science, nature and history.

The museums participating in Museum District Day 2011, which are committed to providing educational, inspirational and cultural activities, include:

Byzantine Fresco Chapel
Children’s Museum of Houston
Contemporary Arts Museum Houston
Czech Center Museum Houston
Holocaust Museum Houston
Houston Center for Contemporary Craft
Houston Center for Photography
Houston Museum of Natural Science
The John C. Freeman Weather Museum
The Jung Center
Lawndale Art Center
The Menil Collection
Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
Rice University Art Gallery
The Rothko Chapel

Please note – the Houston Zoo and The Health Museum are not providing free general admission on Museum District Day. The Health Museum instead will be offering an outdoor live science experience during Museum District Day and a limited number of vouchers for free general admission in the fall upon request to Museum District Day attendees.
