Often I have reflected that one’s life, when gone, will be determined by their most unique accomplishment.

At an early age I realized I was gifted with artistic talents. Hence, the direction of my life not only followed that path, it became my passion.

During my professional years, I became noted as a “start up” specialist in the publishing industry with over 350 titles under my belt. These include launching, repositioning, merging and consultation. I would provide business plans, operational structure, marketing strategies, design, creative needs, advertising sales, and circulation growth. Add to this I have owned and published many books, magazines and tabloids.

I have been furthered blessed with winning several awards; many are mundane while others pretty significant. It is always great to receive accolades for one’s work. However nothing can compare with how my professional and personal life merged, creating the best years of my life.

Thirty plus years ago my wife became my partner. I often stated, “I know how to make money, yet I don’t know how to mange it.” My wife is the exact opposite. She knows how to manage it, not make it. Perfect partnership. Soon, we discovered that all three of our children had significant desires to become partners as well.

All of our children worked the mailroom and computers starting during grade school and as they each graduated from college they all joined the company, following a well-deserved sabbatical.

Today, I am in the twilight of my career and each day when I arrive at the office I get to see, work and (hopefully) advise my family in the continued development of our company.

As mentioned in the opening, I believe I will always be noted as a Publishing Start Up Specialist, my most unique accomplishment. Yet I see myself as being a Top Professional because of how my family and I became a single unit professionally.
