Tiye Foley | Intellectual Property
Dragon Slayers are those among us who are always prepared and never afraid to fight bravely for their community. Taft and Tiye Foley are the epitome of Dragon Slayers. What distinguishes this power couple from most attorneys in Houston is that their track record for being fierce litigators is equally matched by their selfless commitment to the struggle for equal rights, criminal justice reform and the elimination of race-based disparity in our judicial system. While other lawyers define success as the accumulation of wealth, Taft and Tiye measure accomplishment by the number of poor, destitute individuals they are able to rescue from the throngs of disenfranchisement.
Tiye Foley is an attorney at Baker, Donelson Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz P.C. where she practices intellectual property and business litigation. Her caseload consists of complex patent, trademark and business litigation matters. One of her most notable clients is Mathew Knowles, business mogul and father of Beyoncé. Tiye has also garnered recognition as a cast member of WE tv’s Sisters In Law.
Mrs. Foley is a graduate of Rice University, from which she earned two degrees: one in Mechanical Engineering, the other in Hispanic studies. Tiye graduated from The University of Texas School of Law in 2013 and is a Board Member and Chair of the NAACP-Houston Legal Redress Committee. When Mrs. Foley is not in court on a complex patent or business matter, she can be found on the front lines of the NAACP-Houston’s fight to eradicate racism and disparity. Mrs. Foley has facilitated numerous Legal Redress Clinics and continues to represent indigent clients pro bono. Among her most recent community accomplishments is an Expunction clinic where she presided over the intake and drafting of expunction and nondisclosure petitions for over 100 individuals. “This project meant a lot to me because I know the stigma of a criminal record can be oppressive and debilitating. I am proud of the NAACP-Houston’s efforts to free these citizens from the bondage of their youthful indiscretions.”
Taft Foley is the chief litigation attorney at The Foley Law Firm. He has amassed an impressive track record of multimillion dollar results for numerous clients. The Foley Law Firm has a reputation as one of Houston’s most successful law firms. The Firm handles overtime wage, employment discrimination and personal injury cases. Mr. Foley is by far, one of the most respected and feared plaintiff attorneys in Houston.
Mr. Foley is Vice President and General Counsel for the NAACP-Houston. He has received multiple NAACP-Houston Alex Awards for legal Excellence, The NAACP-Houston Presidents award, multiple awards from the Houston Lawyers Association and Lawyer of the Year from the Harris County Counsel of Organizations. Among his mentors are Joseph Little, Dr. James Douglas, Gene Locke, Boris Miles, Dwight Boykins, Dr. Robert Muhammad, Quannel X, Yolanda Smith, Claude Cummings, Carrol Robinson and Greg Kenney. “These are people who lead by example. They are my heroes because of the sacrifices they have made in the pursuit of fairness and equality. They taught me to work just as diligently for my community as I do for my clients.”
Taft and Tiye Foley are both notable and respected attorney’s who merit the title “Dragon Slayers.” However, their true love for one another AND their community has earned them the distinction as two of H Texas magazine’s “Top Lawyers.”
