Upon moving to Houston with her late husband, Henry, in 1989, SYBIL ROOS has been dedicated to community service throughout the city. A musician at heart, it was a natural fit for her to help raise the funds necessary to purchase the first grand piano for the University of Houston Moores School of Music. Since then, she has continued to serve on the Board of Trustees of the Moores Society. She’s a proud patron of the Houston Symphony, the Houston Grand Opera, Texas Children’s Hospital, Methodist Hospital, Houston Zoo, Easter Seals, Houston Ear Research Foundation, City ArtWorks, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston Rienzi and Bayou Bend, Houston Junior Woman’s Club, The Mission of Yahweh and Houston Museum of Natural Science. A member of Phi Mu Fraternity Alumnae Association, Spring Valley University Women, Spring Branch Retired Teachers Association and the Woman’s Club of Houston, Delta Kappa Gamm, Sybil is also a Houston Zoo Asante member and lifetime member of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. She’s a season ticketholder to the Houston Grand opera, Houston Symphony Broadway Series, Theatre Under the Stars and Houston Astros (she’s a huge fan!).
